Mashes Sands, Florida
This beach house is situated on the shore of the Ochlockonee Bay in Mashes Sands, Florida. The home is occupied only for a few months each year. Therefore, the owners wanted a house that does not require a great deal of maintenance and that can withstand the the salt and high wind environment.
A concrete post-and beam superstructure was chosen by the architect to ensure that the core structure would not settle or deflect over time. A high level of attention was paid to ever detail related to exposed elements, from light fixture selection to the types of nails and screws used to attach siding in order to ensure that the building would stand the test of time in this harsh environment.
